NCA Senior Spotlight: Olivia Ficklin
How long have you attended Northside?
I have attended Northside for 13 years.
What do you love most about Northside?
What I love most about Northside is the community. I’ve been able to grow in Christ because of the influences in my life at Northside, and I’ve also been prepared to defend my faith in the world beyond Northside.
Which teachers have impacted you the greatest, and how?
Mr. Nelson has impacted me by investing in my life and pushing me to my academic limits. Another teacher that has influenced me is Mr. Thompson, who is also my soccer coach. He has not only been a teacher and coach, but a friend who has mentored me throughout my high school leadership experience.
What extra-curricular activities/groups are you involved in?
I play volleyball and soccer. I am involved in student council all four years, and I currently serve as Student Body President. I am also a part of the International Thespian Society, Theatre, A Cappella Knights, and Bel Canto groups.
To which colleges have you been accepted and where do you plan to attend?
I have been accepted to Anderson University, Liberty University, and NC State. I plan to attend Anderson University.
What do you plan to study in college?
I plan to major in Graphic Design and minor in Marketing.
What activities (athletic, fine arts, etc.) do you plan to participate in while at college?
I plan to participate in theatre, intramural volleyball or soccer, student leadership, and maybe a vocal group.
What is your life verse?
As I was deciding where to attend college and what to study, Jeremiah 29:11 was the verse that comforted me. The verse says, ““For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” I am reminded that God has a beautiful plan for my life.
