NCA Soccer Among Nation’s Brightest Academic Teams!

Thompson, CoreyHaving worked in various schools and school settings, Dean of Student Affairs and Knights Soccer Head Coach Corey Thompson has made quite an impact at his alma mater. He has been one of the largest champions of students that NCA has had the privilege of being around and has really pushed for academic success, especially among student-athletes! Recently, he has shared with us some incredible news, which backs what he does day in and day out here at NCA! Take a moment to read a report he shared with us and don’t forget to share your congratulations with him as well as his hard working student-athletes!

I received word at the end of last week that NCA has once again received the prestigious Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Adidas in both guy’s and girl’s soccer for the 2015-2016 school year. Therefore, for the 2nd straight year, NCA was one of only a small number of programs from across the country to be awarded this recognition for both teams. Only 48 total schools (public and/or private) were awarded with both. Our guys had an overall team GPA of 3.64 and the ladies came in at 3.63. Nationally, 251 girls teams were recognized along with 138 guys teams (only 48 of which received both awards). It looks like NCA was only one of 4 schools from NC to receive both, and from what I can tell, we were the only NCISAA school. The other 3 all appear to be public schools. We were joined by Durham School of the Arts, North Gaston HS, and Swansboro HS. Here is a link to the release:  While we are very proud of their accomplishments on the field, their academic performance and overall character are far more important, as those are the foundational cornerstones of our school and program…and to what we are working hard to build in the years ahead! We are thankful that The Lord has blessed us with student-athletes who are committed to the principles we value and promote here at NCA!

We are more than proud of what is happening in the hallways here at NCA in the lives of our student-athletes each day and we are excited to see what the future holds, not only for NCA Soccer, but also for the ever-increasing quality of our rigorous academic programs! Way to go, Coach!
