Stanley Named National Merit Semifinalist

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has named Northside Christian Academy senior Jessica Stanley as a Semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.  This organization recognizes students for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by the PSAT scores from their junior year.  Over 1.5 million students took the 2008 PSAT, the initial screen for program entrants.  Jessica was one of about 16,000 NMSQT semifinalists nationwide, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.  Semifinalists must have outstanding academic records, recommendation from their school administration, and SAT scores that confirm the students’ earlier performance on the qualifying test.  They submit an application including an essay as well as information about leadership in school and community activities.  In the spring, many of the semifinalists will advance to the final round of consideration, and National Merit Scholarships will be awarded.  We congratulate Jessica on her recognition, and we wish her the best as competition continues.
