One-Year-Old Packet
We have 2 one-year-old rooms! While both rooms follow the same schedule and do the same curriculum and
crafts, each room has its own individual personality.
Before entering the one-year-old department, your child should be:
- One years old
- Walking steadily on his/her feet
- Drinking from a regular cup
- Off bottles/pacifiers
Rooms – Our one-year-old rooms are very spacious, allowing us plenty of room to play duck, duck, goose and
to act out Three Little Pigs! The rooms are bright and cheery and are very inviting. The toys are cleaned
every week, and the changing tables, trashcans, and sinks are sanitized on a daily basis. It is also in our
cleaning schedule to clean vents and walls, as well as the cribs.
Ratios/ Staff – The ratio in the one-year-old department is 1 to 6. We have 12 children in each room,
with 2 teachers. We have a wonderful staff! All of the staff are Christian ladies who love children and love their job!
Meal Time – The one-year-olds eat in the smaller cafeteria located very near their classroom. Each class has
their own table and they enjoy eating lunch together with their teacher right there! We have the small tables and the
small chairs that are just their size, but for those who still need a boost, we have a tot-lock chair for them.
The teachers assist the children with their food and encourage them to eat well. Snacks are also served in the
cafeteria. A breakfast-type snack is provided each morning, as well as in the afternoon, right after naptime.
Nap Time – With all the morning’s activities, these little guys are more than ready for a nap! It is at
this age that the children begin sleeping on small cots and using the "Kid-Napper" Nap Bags.
Toys – What fun it is being a one-year-old! From "horsey" sticks to dress-up clothes, we have a wide
variety of clean, up-to-date toys for these children to learn, explore, and have a great time with!
