Brooks, John

Coach John Brooks has been at Northside for over 30 years and has been a mainstay here as a legend in his own right. As one of the most well-known coaches in the Charlotte area, Coach Brooks has guided NCA through the process of becoming staple members of the NCISAA and as a charter member of the CISAA. A former collegiate basketball player and track athlete, Coach Brooks still coaches track & field and cross country and is also currently developing Alumni Engagement. If there’s any question on sports rules or facts, you can bet he’ll know it!

Frye, Jennifer

With over 19 years of experience in early childhood education, Mrs. Frye has spent 10 of those years as the Director of Northside’s Academy for Early Learning. Her strong background of experience coupled with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Administration has proved extremely beneficial in the success of our preschool program. She is the mother of a 2014 graduate of NCA and is the example of demonstrating to others that our program is an “education that you can have faith in!”

With over a decade of coaching experience, this collegiate baseball player-turned athletic director has been an exciting fit for NCA. Coach Larsen and his wife, Kelli have two children, Jaelyn and Devin and he enjoys watching his student athletes excel in the classroom and on the diamond. Tip: he might be a verifiable baseball genius!

With over 9 years teaching experience, Mrs. Larsen brought her talents to the guidance office in 2012. Kelli holds a Master’s Degree from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL, has two children, Jaelyn and Devin, with her husband, Brian, and is an expert juggler of schedules.

Larson, Don Elementary Principal / Associate Head of School

Larson, Don

Anchored in a twenty-year career with the United States Air Force, Dr. Larson achieved the distinguished rank of Lieutenant Colonel; leading Joint Special Operations Air Command, combat operations and large teams. Upon retirement, Don answered the calling of Christian education and served as School Superintendent for Rocky Bayou Christian School located in Niceville, Florida. There, Don led efforts in strategic planning, academic advancement, financial execution, spiritual life and development. In 2009, Don and his family were presented with the opportunity to work with inner-city children with Brookstone Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina. As Head of School, he and his team have delivered outstanding results in the areas of academic rigor, fine arts, student growth, and facilities construction and fund development.

The administration is also pleased to share that Dr. Don Larson will be accepting his responsibilities as our new Elementary Principal while at the same time assisting Mr. Fajardo as Associate Head of School.

With Thirteen years involvement as an NCA Parent, Mrs. Morgan has spent some of those more recent years at the role of Administrative Assistance to the Athletic Director. She has a B.S. in Sociology with a concentration in  Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She and her husband, Ken are the proud parents of 3 sons; 2 who currently attend NCA, and one who is an NCA graduate!

Mrs. Sheila Nelson lends over thirty years’ experience in Christian education, having served in both the classroom and administration. She is currently serving NCA as the Secondary Principal and has a very big heart for the personal and spiritual success of each student! She enjoys being task oriented, including scheduling, curriculum development, and instructional supervision – and maintains all of this while being genuine and very personable! She holds a Graduate degree from UNC-Charlotte and is a lover of music and travel!

With 38 years as a Christian School educator, Susan has directed the Fine Arts program for over 12 years. Having coached award-winning choirs, directed over 50 programs, plays and musicals, this seasoned performer in the areas of music and drama loves to see students reach their potential in the performing and visual arts!

As graduates of NCA, both Sherri and her husband were extremely excited when the Lord allowed them the opportunity to educate their children at Northside! Proudly, she and her husband have a 2014 graduate of NCA, and twins (yes, TWINS!) that are slated to graduate in 2017. Mrs. Seger holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an Office Administration concentration, and she has counted it nothing but a privilege to serve in NCA’s Elementary Office for 12 years!

Having 15 years of experience in serving NCA (most of which has been in the role of Administrative Assistant to the Head of School) Mrs. Phylia Smith enjoys working with the Administrative Team and staff of NCA to continue to provide excellence to our students and school families! She loves the family environment combined with the well-rounded programs, academic excellence and spiritual support/development that NCA provides. She also happens to be the proud mother of 3 NCA graduates who are faithfully serving their communities and churches because of the strong background that they received here at NCA!

With a strong belief in the mission of a global classroom, Mrs. Starkey enthusiastically serves as our International Admissions Director. Her passion in the area of student advocacy, along with the desire for the students in our International community to know that they are truly loved and given a secure environment, ensures that they have the best chance at success in their study abroad experiences!
But wait – there’s more! With nineteen consecutive years as an NCA parent and fifteen years as an NCA employee, Pamela has graduated four children from NCA as well as five (yes, can you say FIVE?) international students; she is currently hosting two international students and looks forward to working with all of the new students the Lord brings to NCA! Needless to say, we are quite grateful that Pamela has chosen to invest her passions and abilities into NCA!
Thompson, Corey Dean of Student Affairs / Head Boys and Girls Soccer Coach

This former Citadel cadet is charged with molding our future leaders through a healthy dose of relationship building and mentorship. A 1994 Graduate of NCA, Corey has served in both public and Christian education for over a decade, and now his leadership experience is being passed on to current Knights through his role as the Dean of Student Affairs. A little something extra: he’s also a nationally recognized soccer coach!
